The chemical composition contains up to 0.24% carbon, 0.90–1.20% manganese, up to 0.035% phosphorus, and 0.035% sulfur. These plates offer a minimum tensile strength of 380–515 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa. Supplied in the as-rolled condition, the material is good to form and weld and thus can be used for general fabrication. Although not suitable for high-temperature or high-pressure conditions, it is an economic choice for moderate-strength structural applications.
